Our Story, Our Unity!

In 1986, a group of expatriates from Kerala, hailing mainly from Thekkepuram in Calicut, united to create a club dedicated to nurturing the growth of Arts, Sports, Culture, Social, and Education. With over a hundred members at its inception, the Bab Makkah Recreation Club (BRC) embarked on its journey with football as the sole sporting endeavor. Over time, the club evolved and, in 1994, adopted the name Bharat Recreation Club. Today, BRC comprises residents of Calicut who consider Saudi Arabia, particularly Jeddah and Makkah, their second home. With more than 250 members and their families actively participating in our club’s activities, BRC takes immense pride in being intimately connected with the happiness and sorrows of its members. Our club stands as a testament to unity in diversity, where individuals with diverse beliefs and philosophies come together under one banner. Beyond football, our club engages in a variety of activities, including volleyball, cricket, tug-of-war, general knowledge quizzes, recitations from the Holy Quran, call for prayer, Islamic quiz competitions, sports events for ladies and children, cooking contests for ladies, as well as painting and drawing competitions for children. Moreover, BRC actively supports education, offering incentives and support to enhance the educational pursuits of members’ children, including educational trips. BRC’s commitment to sports is well-demonstrated in its participation and championship wins in tournaments in Jeddah, organized by the Consulate General of India as part of the India Festival. Our club also endeavors to address the issues faced by expatriate Malayalees by collaborating with influential stakeholders. We are pleased to highlight that all our sports competitions and family gatherings are conducted in accordance with the host country’s laws and cultural sensibilities, always with the blessings of the Almighty. At this juncture, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our members and their families for their unwavering support, which continues to be the driving force behind our club’s growth and mission accomplishment.
